When Bonnie Meets Kol

Bonnie shrugs off the eerie vibe she was receiving from the ancient looking store. She grabs the rope and quickly tugs at it, making the bells ring. A short and slender lady pops out from below the counter and hits her head on the built in cabinet on the wall. “Ow,” she groans. Her mesmerizing pair of eyes looks at Bonnie as she straightens her blouse. “What are you looking for?” she asks.

The eyes of the dark skinned beauty roam the tiny store. “I hear that this is a place where I can get vervain.” The lady behind the counter scowls at her. “We’re both witches. You know the danger the vampires bring,” Bonnie sighs, “So how about that vervain?”

The owner rapidly walks out from behind the counter and moves to the door to make sure that it was securely locked. She peeks out the window and neatly shuts them with the blinds. She turns to Bonnie. “If you want to survive then you should know better than to talk about them in a public place,” she scolded. Bonnie eyes the nametag on her shirt. Katie. “Where did you come from?”

Bonnie blinks, “Mystic Falls. I’m from the Bennett line.”

She gasps, “A very powerful bloodline.” She whispers, “There is not enough vervain to protect the people in town. I need to protect the locals. You’re a witch, you can protect yourself.”

“Not against the original family! I thought you’d want to help.” Bonnie replies with a cynical expression. Watching the girl in front of her cringe, she knew that she wasn’t getting any help from her. I thought witches were supposed to help each other. Grams’ stories didn’t make them seem so hesitant. And to think that this girl is the first witch I ever met since my Grams. “Do you know anyone else who sells vervain?”

A sudden bang comes through the door; the bells that hung on top of the door, clinging as the interruption came. Both the heads of Bonnie and Katie snap nervously to the door. A tall pearl-white skinned man approaches them with another white skinned man trailing behind him. The one who stood out more was the first guy. He had tousled brown curly hair and mesmeric blue eyes. He opens his mouth with a smile, “Katie, you never fully grasped the matter regarding heightened senses, have you?” Katie winces at him. “I can hear you negotiating about vervain from a thousand hectares away. You have to learn to be cautious.” He mocks.

“I haven’t broken any of your rules, Klaus. I haven’t sold her any vervain!” Katie screams, backing away from the lean man. Klaus deliberately touches the herbs encased in large glass jars by the shelves. He eyes both girls suspiciously. In vampire speed, he grabs Bonnie by her shoulders and starts draining the blood from her neck. The witch wasn’t prepared for the attack, making her fall helplessly beneath his arms.

The trailing man, Kol, dashes to his brother’s side. He tore his brother away from the witch and fed the lass with his blood. The wound quickly heals, but she stayed very weak. “Where are your manners, brother? Finn warned us about the new locals. So, let’s brief the rules, shall we?” He playfully tells the king.

Klaus glares at the man he shares blood with and retorts, “Don’t test my patience, Kol.” Then he directs his attention to Bonnie, who lies half-conscious on Kol’s arms. “You have been warned.” He turns away, heading towards the door. “Kol, let’s go. Oh and Katie,” he says, flashing the other witch a look, “I’ll have my hybrids come over tonight. If there are any signs of vervain around, I will personally plan your execution. Do you understand?”

Katie nods. She scampers away from the scene and leaves through the door on the back. Kol helps Bonnie get on her feet. He flashes her a charming smile and disappears in vampire speed behind his brother. Bonnie is left stunned and caught by the man’s charms. Her hand shots to her formerly wounded neck and thinks, Whoa. She watches the door, paralyzed by the recent happenings. A dash of oxytocin fills her brain. Kol.
